Mom Hacks

Mom Hacks

Yesterday I was pooped. Like not your regular just dragging. I needed a nap. All day!

So that brings me to mom hack number 1: Yes spaces.

Yes spaces are essential to a mom’s peace. These spaces are available for your child to be able to roam freely without having to worry about getting hurt or getting into things that don’t belong to them. If you like, you can sit back, relax and even rest your eyes for a second but the point is you do not have worry about danger or having to move things. The sockets are covered, entrances are child proofed as well and there are enough toys and non-breakables to keep your child entertained without you having to constantly hover. Yes to yes spaces.
For years I didn’t have a yes space and the stress of not having things properly locked down wore on me in a way I hadn’t even realized. The relief for me when my space was redone has been life altering. But you will have to catch the details about my gift of full home decluttering and organization in my next blog.

Mom hack number 2:  Portable Breakfast

Now your car will not thank you for this jack but portable breakfasts have been a life saver for us. I could not wake the kids up any earlier. We have a 30 minute commute but waking them at home early just to eat breakfast was not working. They are slow eaters. So get dressed and breakfast is in the car. Oh, you’re hungry? Well hurry and get dressed so you can eat breakfast in the car! Lol.

Some of their favorites:
  • baked oatmeal (I recently got the tip to put these in a muffin tin! It’s even better than baking a large pan and cutting into bars. And less crumbs)
  • Pigs in a blanket
  • Breakfast sandwich with eggs, cheese and bacon
  • Waffles (folded like a sand which. Hold the syrup)
These work for us. We pair one of the options above with a piece of fruit or a yogurt smoothie.

Mom hack number 3:  Cook Once per day

This has saved me on those days where I’m too tired at the end of the day. Too many times we have eaten fast food instead of a home cooked meal because I was exhausted.

Cooking dinner either completely or the main dish while I cook lunch has helped me ensure that my kids get a healthy meal.

For working moms, if you prepare lunches at night or before work, maybe you can start something in your crock pot during this time. Anything to maximize time at the end of the day is helpful.

I could go on with the things I’ve learned to help momming run smoothly but I wanted to share what other moms had to say.  I asked some fellow moms to give me their mom hacks and here’s what they had to share.

Imarilisted meal prep, chore charts and consistency to start. She also suggested the use of a command center (google this if you’re unsure. It will help you stay organized).
My favorite tip from her is encouraging moms to have one day of nothing. For her, it’s mandatory. She said, “mom will be doing nothing on Saturday.  It’s her day, don’t even breath near me!”
I love it! A whole day per week to myself? I need to adopt this mom hack!

Tasha’stip is awesome too. Here’s what she had to say about those pesky mismatched socks!
“Let’s talk socks!! I never ever lose socks. Ever. I use diaper pins before putting them in the washer. We have a routine. Take off socks, pin them, put in the laundry hamper.
Yes sometimes I pin [the socks] while sorting clothes. But socks come out the dryer already together! Super easy.
I love it. Makes laundry so much easier! Im not searching for mates, just simply taking pins apart and folding.”

This is a mom hack I’m willing to adopt! Socks are stressful because I just don’t understand lol. Where did your match go?

And lastly Londoncame out with the big guns: weekly meal planning. She said this allows her to refrain from buying the entire snack aisle at the grocery store! Ha! I can definitely relate.

Thanks for reading. And I hope you have an amazing Mother’s Day!

Share with a new mommy and add your own mom hack in the comments.
