“If he doesn’t know what to do, you have to know what to do.”
These were my daughter’s words to me as we sat in her bed talking. She was stalling for more time but the advice was still good. This was her marriage advice for her dad and I.
It made perfect sense to me.
In marriage when your partner doesn’t know what to do, has lost their way, is bogged down with work, or seems unsure about the path they’re on, you can be the help and support they need. Maybe you can look into the situation and see it differently. Maybe you can assure them everything will work out.
In times of stress and uncertainty, your standing in the gap can help shift the tide as your spouse takes a breather to clear their mind, reevaluate, and rework the plan.
The partnership aspect of marriage is beautiful, especially when you can be their for your spouse when they are stressed and unsure.
When your spouse is weak, you can be strong. When your spouse is weary, you can help them carry the load.
In the end, everything will balance out and you may discover you’re tougher than you thought.
